Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2025: Stay Safe Online with the Core 4

This October marks the 22nd year of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. What began as a modest campaign has evolved into a global initiative, led by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA). We’re proud to join this effort and share simple, actionable guidance to help our community stay safe online.

Why Cybersecurity Matters to Paradise Computer Services
Cybersecurity isn’t just a technical issue—it’s a fundamental part of how we protect our employees, customers and community. With this year’s theme, “Stay Safe Online,” the focus is on empathy, accessibility, and shared responsibility. We believe everyone can play a role in fostering a safer digital world, whether you’re a home user, a student, or a business owner.

Throughout October, we’ll spotlight the Core 4 cybersecurity practices—four habits that dramatically reduce your risk of cyber threats:

  • Use Strong Passwords and a Password Manager: Create unique, complex passwords for every account and store them in a trusted password manager.
  • Enable Multifactor Authentication (MFA): Add an extra layer of protection by requiring a code or biometric confirmation when logging in.
  • Update Your Software Regularly: Install updates for your operating system, apps, and antivirus software as soon as they become available.
  • Recognize and Report Phishing and Scams: Learn how to spot suspicious emails, texts, and calls, and report them to protect yourself and others.

We’ll be sharing resources, quick tips, and behind‑the‑scenes stories all month long to help you put the Core 4 into action. From educational webinars and community events to fun cybersecurity contests and phishing simulations, there’s something for everyone. Keep an eye on our social channels for new posts—look for the hashtag #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth to follow along.

Beyond the Core 4, we’re also here to answer your questions. Whether you’re unsure how to set up MFA or want advice on choosing a password manager, reach out. Cybersecurity works best when it’s a collaborative effort.

Quick Note: As we focus on developing good security habits, please note that Windows 10 support will end on October 14, 2025. If you’re still on Windows 10, you’ll need to plan your next step—whether that’s upgrading to Windows 11 or enrolling in Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates program. Check our recent post on Windows 10 end‑of‑support for details and guidance.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month serves as a reminder that small actions can make a significant difference. By using strong passwords, turning on MFA, keeping software up to date, and staying alert to scams, you’ll dramatically improve your digital security. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Cybersecurity Awareness Month and adopting these simple practices to help create a safer online environment for everyone.

If you have any questions or need help implementing these steps, either at home or at work, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We’re here to support you, today and all year round.
